OECHALIA
oppid. multiplex, Strabo l. 8. οὐ μιᾶς οὔσης. Cum non sit unica tantum Oechalia.
Ubi Apollodorum reprehendit, ὅτι μίαν φησί. Ille autem fatebatur, Oechaliam esse multiplicem; sed ex omnibus unam, quae Euriti urbs appellaretur. Oechalias autem 5. esse e Strabone sic annotat Eustathius: Ἐν ἑτέροις δέ φησιν, ὅτι Οἰχαλία κώμη τῆς Ἐρετρικῆς ὁμώνυμος τῇ Τραχινίᾳ καὶ τῇ περὶ τὴν Τρίκκην,
καὶ τῇ Ἀρκαδικῇ, καὶ τῇ εν Αἰτωλίᾳ. Locus autem Strabonis est in l. 10. ubi de Oechaliâ Euboica, quae cadem est cum Chalcide, teste Pliniô l. 4. c. 12. Coeterum Oechalia, Euryti regia erat tractu Messeniaco, quam Hercules diruit, quia pactam filiam Iolen Eurytus ei non daret. Virg. Aen. l. 8. v. 291. ubi de Hercule:
